Continuous cuffless blood pressure monitoring is a flagship use case for wearables, and a substantial line of prior work estimates BP indirectly: reconstruct ECG from PPG, then map ECG to BP, on the assumption that ECG has a stronger physiological link to blood pressure. This paper tests that assumption directly and finds it does not hold.
