FDA product code QME (camera vitals)
Most US clearances for optical camera-based pulse / heart / breathing / respiratory rate software use product code QME under 21 CFR 870.2785. Devices in this class analyze video to estimate rates and are not intended to independently direct therapy. On this map, FDA-tier rows currently include FaceHeart, LIO (Oxehealth), Mindset Medical, Nuralogix / Anura, PanopticAI, Presage Technologies.
Third-party QME directories (for example 510kdatabase.net or Innolitics) can help scan the category; ChatPPG still cites the FDA decision numbers above rather than scraping those sites as ground truth. For regulatory framing beyond this table, see rPPG FDA regulatory status.
FAQ
- Who are the commercial rPPG / camera vitals vendors?
- This map lists 11 camera-based remote PPG vendors and contactless vitals SDKs, including FaceHeart, Oxehealth/LIO, Mindset Medical, Nuralogix/Anura, PanopticAI, Presage, Happitech, Shen.AI, Rouast Labs/VitalLens, Binah.ai, and Philips Biosensing. Rows are sorted by regulatory tier, then openness — not by claimed accuracy.
- Which rPPG vendors have FDA 510(k) clearance?
- As of 2026-10-25, vendors on this map with public FDA 510(k) listings under product code QME (21 CFR 870.2785) include: FaceHeart (K223622, K243966); LIO (Oxehealth) (K220899, K243687, K251200); Mindset Medical (K241633, K250078); Nuralogix / Anura (K253650); PanopticAI (K240890, K260066); Presage Technologies (K254169). Always verify the current decision letter on accessdata.fda.gov; labeling and indications can change.
- What is FDA product code QME for camera vitals?
- QME covers software for optical camera-based measurement of pulse rate, heart rate, breathing rate, and/or respiratory rate (21 CFR 870.2785). Cleared devices are Class II and are not intended to independently direct therapy. ChatPPG links 510(k) numbers; we do not invent clearances.
- Does VitalLens publish public MAE figures?
- VitalLens (Rouast Labs) is the only vendor on this map with a public validation row: vendor-reported MAE on a 422-person set (HR 1.57 bpm, RR 1.08 bpm, HRV-SDNN 10.18 ms) cited via arXiv:2510.27028. That is self-reported on their own set and is not comparable to other rows.
- Open vs closed rPPG SDKs — who is dual-openness?
- Most commercial camera-vitals SDKs are closed. On this map, Rouast Labs / VitalLens is dual: MIT-licensed client SDKs plus a closed cloud model behind a public API. Dual-openness is sorted above closed vendors within the same regulatory tier.
- Is this an accuracy leaderboard?
- No. Protocols, populations, and marketed claims differ. MAE appears only when a vendor cites a public study we can link, with a self-reported badge when the figure comes from the vendor's own evaluation set.
Method
- Rows come from the chatppg-feed-3 rPPG companies feed (data/research/feed-companies.json) plus public FDA 510(k) records verified 2026-10-25.
- FDA camera vitals clearances commonly use product code QME (21 CFR 870.2785). We link accessdata.fda.gov 510(k) entries; we do not invent clearances.
- Sort: FDA 510(k) listings first, then CE/ANVISA company claims, then wellness / no clearance cited. Within a tier, dual-openness before closed.
- Public validation shows vendor-reported metrics only when a public paper or arXiv preprint is linked. Self-reported badge means the vendor's own test set.
- We do not invent clearances. Entries marked "company claim" are not independently verified against notified-body certificates.
- Watchlist (not yet mapped as full rows): Circadify (commercial SDK, no FDA QME listing verified this pass); Qompium FibriCheck (K232804 QME — primarily finger/PPG AF screening, not face-camera rPPG SDK positioning).
