Leveraging the wearable 1-lead ECG signal. From cardiac rhythm to cardiac function assessment

Summary

Home 30-second 1-lead ECG from a Withings ECG Smartwatch (300 Hz), recorded in a clinical telemonitoring program after acute coronary syndrome at LUMC (2018–2023), is used to predict left ventricular function. Matched clinical 12-lead ECGs are 10 s at 500 Hz. The model is a partial beta-VAE with seven recurrent convolutional blocks, the same strategy as van der Valk et al., IEEE TBME 2025 (explainable ECG by VAE).
