- Reassessing the Feasibility of PPG-Based Non-Invasive Blood Glucose Level Estimation2026 · arXiv preprint
This paper re-tests five published methods for estimating blood glucose from PPG with a reproducible pipeline and three increasingly strict ways of splitting the data. The models looked competitive when windows were split at random but collapsed once the same person could not appear in both training and test sets, with R² near zero or negative, no better than predicting the mean. Over 90% of predictions still landed in the Clarke Error Grid A+B zones, including the mean baseline, which shows that metric alone is misleading.
