This Mayo Clinic study followed 100,586 patients who had both an echocardiogram and an ECG, focusing on those whose AI-ECG score flagged low ejection fraction even though their measured EF was normal. These false-positive patients had an echocardiographic abnormality 97% of the time. Over a median of 2.7 years they had higher mortality than true negatives (age- and sex-adjusted HR 1.64), especially when their echo was also abnormal.
