MMAE-ECG is a multi-scale masked autoencoder for detecting and locating anomalies in ECG without R-peak detection or heartbeat segmentation. It combines multi-scale masking with multi-scale attention so that a lightweight Transformer encoder captures both global and local patterns. It reached state-of-the-art anomaly detection and localization while using about 1/78 of the inference FLOPs and 1/18 of the trainable parameters of the previous leading method.
