This paper estimates blood glucose from PPG with a hybrid network that uses a CNN for patterns within the signal and a GRU for patterns over time. On its test set it reported a mean absolute error of 2.96 mg/dL, RMSE of 3.94 mg/dL and R² of 0.97, with all points in Clarke Error Grid zone A.
