Do toe-PPG PAD features encode race? (Fascetti et al., ML4H 2026)
ML4H 2026 (poster); OpenReview qUBUOn3ece (published 2026-10-30)
TL;DR
The 78 toe-PPG features built for PAD screening are tested for whether they predict race. The data are 3,340 signals from 1,514 White (not Hispanic) and Black (not Hispanic) patients at two sites. A linear SVM reaches a pooled out-of-fold AUROC of 0.565 (95% CI 0.520–0.601): Site 1 0.571, Site 2 0.515.
