Interpretable 4-second PPG features detect peripheral artery disease (Fascetti et al., WiML 2026)
WiML @ NeurIPS 2026; OpenReview utzZBrwvr5 (published 2026-09-30)
TL;DR
The study uses 5,237 PPG waveforms from 2,362 patients with concurrent ankle-brachial index (ABI, the PAD reference) at two clinical sites, described as the largest paired PPG–ABI set to date. Each 4-second PPG yields 1,525 candidate features. Mutual-information selection, with 100-bootstrap stability checks per site, keeps 78.
